A large, multiline reinsurer perpetually licenced Re Square's exposure rating library (repy) in 2025. Alongside the licence of the code library, our client required the construction of a bespoke front-end in hx Renew to rate both P&C and financial risks (credit / surety) classes.
The client had been grappling previously with two particular challenges:
The consolidation of the logic in multiple original Excel models into a single, maintainable python calculation library. Although there were many common principles in the individual models, all had been coded differently and mutated over the years to address LOB-specific features (e.g. ALAE in some, bespoke exposure stacking or curve types in others)
The design in a web platform of an underwriter-friendly front-end that would feel as usable as an Excel model
Re Square formulated a detailed spec for a combined P&C and financial risks model within 10 days. The front-end build was completed and fully user-tested ready for live use 4 weeks ahead of schedule. Calculation speed was enhanced by a factor of 40+.
